Are you a lover of plants but lack space? You could create a vertical wall of plants! This DIY project adds a touch to nature and serves as a focal point in your home.
Why go vertical? Vertical planters can be a great way to save on space and create an accent wall. They add warmth and life to any space, making them ideal for homes with limited outdoor spaces or small spaces. Plus, they are a great conversation starter when you have guests over.
Here’s everything you’ll need to get started:
- A mirror to add depth and reflect the light
- Pot holders in 4 inch and 6 inch sizes
- Clay pots in corresponding sizes
Plants that thrive under your specific light conditions - Rope, glue gun and a rope
Gather your clay pots, and make sure they fit snugly into the pot holders. If the pots are a little loose, you can use rope to widen their rims and secure it with a gluegun. This will prevent the pots from falling through.

Attach the pot holders to the wall. Use the anchors that come with the pot holders if you are comfortable drilling holes. If you’re worried about wall damage, there are other options. For example, you can secure pots to plywood.
Arrange your plants, mixing varieties for visual interest. I chose easy-care varieties like philodendrons and pothos that thrive in bright indirect light and need minimal water. You can choose any plant that matches your light conditions and care abilities.
Simple steps to care for your plant wall. Water every week or ten days. Adjust frequency based on the season and pot size. Summer watering may be more frequent. Dust and fertilize plants regularly, especially in the spring.
Why not give it a go? Your home and your plants will thank you.
